Automatic carton erectors for Australian warehouses

A carton erector takes flat cardboard blanks, folds them, and tapes the bottom, ready for filling. One machine replaces the two or three people who would otherwise be making boxes by hand all shift.

Emmoco supplies carton erectors across Australia from our Campbellfield warehouse in Melbourne. Our own technicians commission every machine on site, and we hold spare parts locally so you are not waiting on an overseas order when a belt or sensor goes.

Compare our carton erectors

Model Speed Carton size range Size changeover Power / air Best for
20TX 14 cartons/min L330-530 x W165-310mm Fixed size 220V single phase, 60 PSI Operations running one consistent carton size
25TB Up to 30 cartons/min L260-480 x W160-380 x H160-380mm One-click, tool free, seconds 220V single phase, 87 PSI Mixed carton sizes and higher volume, runs inline

The short version: if you run one box size, the 20TX does the job. If you change sizes through the day, the 25TB pays for itself in changeover time alone, and it is more than twice as fast.

How to choose a carton erector

Start with your carton count per shift. Under about 300 cartons a day and a well drilled manual station is usually enough. Between 300 and 3,000 a day is the sweet spot for an automatic erector. Above that you want the 25TB running inline into a sealer.

Then check your carton range. If you run one or two box sizes, the 20TX is the cheaper answer. If you change sizes several times a day, buy the one-click changeover or the setup time will eat the gains you bought the machine for.

Then look at floor space, power and air. The 20TX needs a 1.9 x 1.9m footprint. The 25TB weighs 1,000kg with a 690mm table height. Both run on standard 220V single phase. Check your compressor can hold 60 PSI for the 20TX or 87 PSI for the 25TB, because an undersized compressor is the most common install day surprise.

What it actually saves you

Hand-erecting cartons runs at roughly 4 to 6 boxes a minute for a decent operator, and it drops off badly after a couple of hours. A 20TX runs at 14 a minute all day and the 25TB at up to 30. On a 2,000 carton day that is a full shift of labour freed up, plus fewer damaged boxes and fewer packing errors from misformed flaps.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a carton erector cost in Australia?
It depends on speed and whether you need size changeover. Call us on (03) 8376 8088 with your carton size and daily volume and we will give you a real number, not a range.

What is the difference between a carton erector and a case erector?
Nothing. They are two names for the same machine. You will also hear box erector, case former and carton former. All the same thing.

Do carton erectors use tape or glue?
Our machines are tape based. The 25TB takes both Kraft and BOPP tape in 48 to 72mm widths. Tape is cheaper to run and easier to maintain than hot melt glue, which is why it suits most warehouse operations.

Can one machine handle different carton sizes?
Within its range, yes. The difference is how long changeover takes. The 20TX is set for a fixed size. The 25TB changes over in seconds with one click and no tools, across L260-480 x W160-380 x H160-380mm.

How fast are they?
The 20TX runs at 14 cartons per minute, the 25TB at up to 30. For comparison, a good operator hand-erecting manages 4 to 6 a minute and cannot hold that pace all shift.

Can a carton erector run inline with a sealer?
Yes. The 25TB runs free-standing or fully inline on a conveyor, feeding a carton sealer downstream. That combination removes almost all manual box handling.

How long does installation take?
Usually half a day to a day on site. Our technicians deliver, commission and train your operators as part of the supply. We do not drop a machine at the door and leave.

What warranty do they come with?
12 months on parts and labour.

What about spare parts and servicing?
We hold common wear parts in Melbourne and dispatch same day. We have our own service technicians rather than a third-party contractor, which is why our machines get back up faster than most.
