A pallet wrapper applies stretch film to a loaded pallet automatically. It wraps faster than a person, uses less film, and applies consistent tension so loads actually arrive intact. Hand wrapping is slow, inconsistent, and it is one of the more common causes of warehouse back injuries.

The three types, and which one you need

Turntable wrappers spin the pallet on a rotating base while the film carriage moves up and down. They are the most common type, the most affordable, and they suit most warehouses. The limit is load stability: very light or very unstable loads can shift when spun. Good for up to roughly 30 to 40 pallets an hour.

Rotary arm wrappers keep the pallet still and spin an arm around it. Use these when loads are unstable, very light, very heavy, or too tall for a turntable. Also the right answer if you want to wrap straight off a forklift without setting down.

Inline and automatic wrappers sit in a conveyor line and wrap without an operator. These are for high throughput operations, generally 40+ pallets an hour, and they are the end point most growing 3PLs eventually reach.

What a pallet wrapper actually saves you

Hand wrapping a pallet takes 3 to 5 minutes and uses far more film than a machine, because a person cannot maintain consistent pre-stretch. A machine wraps in 60 to 90 seconds and typically cuts film consumption by 30 to 50 percent through proper pre-stretch.

On 20 pallets a day, that is around an hour of labour back per shift plus a meaningful drop in your film bill. Film savings alone pay for an entry-level machine in most operations. Audit your current film usage if you want to size the saving before you buy.

How to choose

Pallets per hour is the first number. Under 15 an hour, an entry-level turntable is plenty. 15 to 40 an hour, look at a higher-spec turntable or rotary arm. Above 40, you want an automatic inline machine.

Load type is the second. Stable, heavy, uniform loads suit a turntable. Light, tall, or unstable loads need a rotary arm.

Then film. Match the machine's pre-stretch capability to the film you run. Running the wrong film on a high pre-stretch machine wastes the whole advantage. We supply machine wrap, hand wrap and ventilated wrap to suit.
