Heavy-duty wrapping, no rotation required
Some loads cannot be spun. Others are unstable, oddly shaped, or too heavy for a turntable. A rotary arm pallet wrapper keeps the pallet completely still while a rotating arm carries the film around it.
Emmoco supplies rotary arm wrappers across Australia from our Melbourne warehouse, commissioned on site by our own technicians with spare parts held locally.
When you need a rotary arm instead of a turntable
Choose a rotary arm when:
- Loads are unstable or top-heavy and would shift if spun
- Pallets are unusually shaped, oversized or overhanging
- Loads are very light, so centrifugal force on a turntable would pull them apart
- Loads are very heavy and beyond turntable weight capacity
- Pallets are too tall to spin safely
- You want to wrap straight off a forklift without setting the load down
If your loads are stable and under about 2,000kg, a turntable wrapper will do the same job for considerably less. For conveyor-fed dispatch lines, look at inline wrappers.
What you get
- Fully automated wrapping cycle
- Adjustable wrap tension and powered film pre-stretch
- High wrap speeds, typically faster than a turntable because there is no load acceleration and deceleration
- Remote start and stop
- Heavy-duty construction with safety enclosures
- Customisable wrap programs for different SKUs
Who buys these
Food and beverage manufacturers, pharmaceutical and medical supply chains, chemical and dangerous goods handlers, building and construction material distributors, and bulk freight logistics operators. The common thread is loads that cannot tolerate rotation.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a rotary arm and a turntable pallet wrapper?
A turntable spins the pallet while the film carriage moves up and down. A rotary arm keeps the pallet still and spins an arm around it. Turntables are cheaper and suit most stable loads. Rotary arms handle unstable, very light, very heavy or very tall loads that a turntable cannot.
How fast is a rotary arm wrapper?
Generally faster than a turntable of equivalent grade, because the arm can accelerate without any risk to the load. Exact throughput depends on load height and wrap pattern. Call us with your pallets per hour and we will confirm.
Can a rotary arm wrapper handle very light loads?
Yes, and this is one of the main reasons to buy one. Light loads such as empty containers, foam or bagged insulation can be pulled apart by turntable rotation. A rotary arm removes that problem entirely.
Do they need three phase power?
Most rotary arm machines do, unlike entry-level turntables which usually run single phase. We confirm the requirement before delivery so there are no surprises on install day.
How much floor space does one need?
More than a turntable, because the arm needs full clearance to swing. Send us your floor plan and we will confirm the footprint and the safety clearances required.
Do you install and service them?
Yes. Our own technicians deliver, commission and train your operators on site, and we hold wear parts in Melbourne for same-day dispatch.
